Dedicated to Aaliyah: "Million" by Tink (Remake)

One of my friends sent me this song this weekend and I can't stop listening to it.  Tink is a R&B/Hip Hop artist who sings and also raps. She pays homage to Aaliyah using a bit of her vocals and the beat of "One in a Million" to create a whole new song. I am a big Aaliyah fan and although I was really skeptical of listening to it (mainly because new artist tend to slaughter other artists songs), Tink actually did a good job with this remake. She made the song her own...by sampling a variety of parts from "One in a Million." I really like it and I hope you guys like it too.

Here's the song "Million" by Tink.

And here's the original song that she sampled.

Throwback Thursday: The Floor by Johnny Gill (From the 1990s vault)

Throwback Thursday Johnny Gill

For Throwback Thursday, I decided to go with an upbeat, feel good song. Some of you may have heard of it. "The Floor" was definitely one of the hypest songs of the 90's. It has a dance party sort of feel to it. I remember my mom would play this song when we would barbecue in the Summer when I was younger and my family members would hustle all across our backyard to this song.

Check out the video for "The Floor" by Johnny Gill and let me know what you think.

Do any of you guys remember this song?
If you've never heard it, what do you think about it?
Does it remind you of any other songs?
