Flashback Friday Music (R&B): After the Party by Koffee Brown

Flashback Friday (R&B): After the Party by Koffee Brown

For today's Flashback Friday I decided to reach back into my childhood with Koffee Brown's "After the Party." I remember when I would hear this song playing on the radio.. knowing all of the words by heart. I also remember my mother about to beat me for singing the song without knowing what it meant. Lol Whenever it came on, she would either run to the radio and turn it off or I would turn it down low enough just for me to hear it as I put one of my ears up to the speakers of the radio because I loved the beat.lol

Now that I am older, I now know that this song is about the urges of wanting to have sex with someone you're dancing with. Lol I still think it's great though. It's the perfect song to dance to. I also love how fun the music video looks where you can tell they're really having a good time in comparison to the R&B videos that come out nowadays.

Here's the music video to After the Party by Koffee Brown.

New Music: Janet Jackson - No Sleeep ft. J. Cole

Janet Jackson No Sleeep ft. J. Cole

I am so excited Janet Jackson is dropping new music. I can't wait until she comes to Michigan next year for her Unbreakable World Tour. We haven't really heard any new music from Janet Jackson since 2008, when she dropped her album "Discipline" which was amazing! However, it's safe to assume that she's in the studio making some new hits.

The music video "No Sleeep" was published on Youtube earlier today. The song focuses on missing someone and being into them to the point in which when you're around them... They're your only focus. Sleep isn't even a factor because you want to absorb all the time you have with them because you value them so much.

I am loving the beat, Janet Jackson's soft voice, and J. Cole's flow on this song.

Check it out and let me know what you guys think.

Dedicated to Aaliyah: "Million" by Tink (Remake)

One of my friends sent me this song this weekend and I can't stop listening to it.  Tink is a R&B/Hip Hop artist who sings and also raps. She pays homage to Aaliyah using a bit of her vocals and the beat of "One in a Million" to create a whole new song. I am a big Aaliyah fan and although I was really skeptical of listening to it (mainly because new artist tend to slaughter other artists songs), Tink actually did a good job with this remake. She made the song her own...by sampling a variety of parts from "One in a Million." I really like it and I hope you guys like it too.

Here's the song "Million" by Tink.

And here's the original song that she sampled.

Flashback Friday: Michael Jackson - Lady In My Life

I fell in love with this song a few years ago. It is probably my fifth favorite Michael Jackson song. Every time I hear it, I just want to slow dance across the room. It's something about it... It maybe the soulful lyrics or Michael Jackson's soothing voice that sends tingles up my spine, but I absolutely love it and I could listen to it everyday.

I did a bit of research on this song and I was surprised that it was not a single on the "Thriller" album, which was Michael Jackson's sixth studio album that was released November 30th in 1982. I feel like it should have been because this song was pretty popular.

But without further ado, here is the flashback song of the day "Lady In My Life" by Michael Jackson.

Flashback Friday: Summer Rain by Carl Thomas

summer rain carl thomas

I chose the song "Summer Rain" by Carl Thomas for Flashback Friday because it has been playing over and over in my mind for the past week. I think that it is mainly because it has been raining a lot in Michigan and yes, I know that it is not Summer yet. This song takes me back to when I was in middle school. I absolutely loved this song even though I wasn't really paying attention to the lyrics at that time. I'm pretty sure if my mom had caught me singing this or heard it playing on the radio she would have came in the room so fast and turned it off because she was pretty strict with the lyrics and content of the songs I listened to.

Carl Thomas's soothing voice with this calming and simple beat makes for the perfect song. To be honest, I just realized how sexual this song is...considering this is the first time I've seen the entire video and paid attention to the lyrics.lol It's still a pretty amazing song.

Check out the video...
Be forewarned that there is a whole lot of sexiness going on in this video. lol
If you want to avoid that, click the second video which has only the song.
