I am one of those people who loves mystery bags. I do not think I have ever gotten a mystery bag where there was something in it that I did not like or I could not use. Anyway, I wanted to share with you guys what I received in two of the mystery bags that I purchased at Youmacon and I wanted to give you all some tips about buying mystery bags from merchants.
I went into Youmacon knowing I was going to buy at least one mystery bag. I bought a mystery bag at Youmacon 2016 and I received some awesome items in the bag I bought. So I figured that I had to buy another one. I looked through the Dealer's room/Artist Alley and I saw quite a few people selling mystery bags.
My first mystery bag was $35. I just chose a bag and I found a lot of great stuff inside. I received 4 items in the mystery bag.

The first thing I pulled out of the bag was this Pokemon Squirtle Plush.
It is a certified Pokemon plushie. It retails at $16.76 on Amazon.
The Pokemon beanie hat retails at 99 cents plus $5.49 shipping on Amazon.
The yellow fidget spinner is worth $5 on Amazon.

The last item I received in my mystery bag was the Banpresto Dragon Ball Z Dramatic Showcase 4th Season Vol. 1 Super Saiyan Vegeta Figure.
The figure retails at $34.90 on Hot Topic.
I spent $35 on this mystery bag, but the value of what was inside the bag came out to being $63.14 altogether which is pretty awesome. I wasn't even expecting to receive a figure like that, but I got one.

I bought the 2nd $35 mystery bag from the same seller the last day of the con because I was feeling adventurous.
Here was what was inside of it...
I was not able to find this exact one on sale, but I saw a few of these that were grouped for sale. Let's just assume that this earphone plug is around $1.

When I first saw this, I thought it was chocolate. I was excited, but then I saw it was a vinyl. It is a Ghostbusters Mymoji Mini Vinyl action figure.
This action figure retails at $5.23.
I received this blue hat, but I have no idea what anime this even from.
I can't even fit the hat, but it's still a cool find.
If you guys know where this hat is from, let me know.
This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles clutch purse with chain strap was one of the best things I received in the bag.
This clutch is worth $21.
There is also one item that is missing because I gave it to my boyfriend. I received the Dramatic Showcase for Goku, but I can't remember which one. I believe it is around $34 as well though.
For the items that I am aware of the cost... in total the items in the bag were worth $61.23 + however much the blue hat is worth. I think that's a pretty awesome buy.
Tips for Buying Mystery Bags at Cons
Tip #1 : Look at what's for sale at the booths that have mystery bags before you buy one.
I always examine what's for sale and the price ranges of items before I buy something. If a seller has a lot of smaller items and they have bags, I probably wouldn't buy a bag. Make sure to just buy from sellers who sell things that you think you might want.
Tip #2 : The more expensive bags have the best stuff...or at least the bags that are over $20.
At this con, I bought $35 mystery bags and I was pretty happy with what I received. I have seen people buy cheaper bags and not too many of them had good stuff inside them.
Tip #3 : Buy with an open mind.
It's easier said that done, but I always buy mystery bags with almost no hope. 😂😂 It's kind of like buying a lottery ticket and just being kind of like.. "If I win, I win...and if I don't, I don't." Whenever I have that attitude, I always end up with something awesome.
Overall though, I would definitely suggest going for a mystery bag if you are feeling adventurous.
