This is a dream photoshoot come true! We had been planning on cosplaying Sailor Neptune (@fairie_tails) and Sailor Uranus (@staticmakesstuff) together already and when we heard that @brettsphoto would be in town we jumped at the opportunity to shoot with him - his underwater photography is amazing! We thought doing Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus would be perfect characters for it since Sailor Neptune is water themed and the characters always look like they're floating while transforming. The shoot itself was a huge learning curve. Firstly our make up needed to be 100% water proof, not something we've had to consider before. We also needed a million bobby pins for our wigs! Then actually getting the photos was pretty tricky. We needed to push ourselves underwater and get deep enough under the surface, fix our hair and costumes then strike a pose while floating back up to the surface. Posing together was even trickier trying to get at the same level underwater, especially when we were facing away from each other. But we managed to get some great shots! It was a really fun (and exhausting) experience, after the shoot we wolfed down a few burgers haha. The response online has been really positive (thank you!) We're really happy to see people saying we've inspired them to do an underwater shoot themselves. Can't wait to see what people come up with, we've already got so many more underwater ideas as well. ❄️๐Ÿ˜ˆ❄️ It’s that time for a Year-in-cosplay review!! I’m a little behind so I’ll have to play catch up. First up is Berthier of the Dark Moon Clan from Sailor Moon. I debuted her with @anothercastlecreations at @nakakonanime . We decided to do the Black Moon Clan for the costume contest and we were so honored to place. I loved making Berthier for a couple of reasons. I’m always drawn to water/ice characters and I love that anime trope where the hair matches the whole outfit. I overall am really happy with the result of the outfit. During its construction I had to completely rethink the bodysuit. I used the “Scuba” fabric from @joann_stores as a lining, but when I sewed it to the outer fabric it completely compressed everything down making it shorter. To fix this i had to draft larger bust cups but I think it worked better and made the whole outfit more accurate.
