I am going to be honest, I do not workout on a regular basis. I feel like I lack the motivation to do so, but I know I want to be in shape and I do have health goals I would like to meet like running for an hour nonstop without getting tired or being able to do 70 push ups in a row without stopping. Anyway, my boyfriend suggested I run with him and our friends on Sundays since they just started trying to get back into running a week ago. I figured, I'd do it since I need to workout anyway and my social levels would go up (as if I were in the Sims). So here's what happened within me jogging with my boyfriend and friends as well as what I realized about myself.

Running in a group seemed to be much better than listening to music.... from what my friends mentioned.

Even though I am an introvert (or maybe I am an ambivert), running with people does motivate you to keep going. However for me I had other reasons for continuing on after a certain point. Although  I feel like I may play some music next time I run with them to see if I feel a difference within the way I am motivated to focus on my breathing and my pacing.

I need to learn how to breathe again within running.

I tend to breathe through my mouth constantly or my nose constantly. I never alternate between the two. I know it is supposed to be breathe through the nose and out through the mouth. So I plan on practicing that throughout the week.

I shouldn't try to run everyone else's pace.

My friends take giant strides and I started off with giant strides with caused me to have issues.  I wasn't breathing correctly and my calves were burning me way more than I thought they should. Of course there were other reasons which I will get to, but yeah.. It is better to run your own pace and build up than to run someone else's, especially if they have been running or doing more movement than you on a regular basis.

I am motivated to keep going even in pain not because of competition, but because I feel bad when people have to wait on me.

I don't really like when other people have to stop what they are doing for me. We were supposed to run 3 miles, but of course... I was like "Nope... I haven't really did too much exercising except walking in a long time." They mentioned that I can dance for hours, but I change my pace a lot within dancing... It isn't a consistent jog with decent strides. Needless to say, I walked most of the way. I was telling my boyfriend that I need to work my way up into a consistent jog instead of going in with a full blown jog. So I plan on building my pace up during the week until I can keep up for a long enough time.

I need legitimate running shoes because I don't own any.

You have to wear proper shoes to run correctly. My shoes had a flat bottom with no dips within the shoes which did make them hard to run in. The shoes also made my ankles and the bottoms of my calves burn extremely badly. So I plan on buying some decent shoes for running this week.

I am going to need to jog throughout the week if I want to keep up.

I plan on jogging at the very least every other day and to walk everyday for an hour or two while I watch shows on Netflix or Hulu. There is no way I can just run only on Sundays because I know I won't really progress that much and I'll still have people waiting on me. So I will build up my stamina and muscles. I will make sure I breathe properly so that I can keep up and make myself healthier.

So overall I know that I should have been working out all of this time. I will do a Youtube video workout every now and then, but not often enough. I have been out of high school since 2009 and I have not exercised consistently for a month. I need to change my life. So hopefully I can stick to working out during the week and building up my stamina to run at a decent pace.

Now it's time for you guys to chime in.
