I love lipstick and I feel so much happiness when I am able to try kinds I've never tried for free. Influenster sent me an e.l.f. Voxbox and in it there was an e.l.f. Matte Lip Color in the color Wine. I have been wanting to try this product in this color for a long time and now I'm going to share with you guys my thoughts on it.
Packaging
The lipstick comes in a standard tube where you can twist the lipstick up and down to use or put away. The lipstick also comes with a sharpener as well to keep the tip of the lip color available for use to your liking.
Consistency and Moisture
This lip color is enriched with Vitamin A, C, & E which is supposed to help moisturize and hydrate lips. Honestly, I did not particularly like the lip color on it's own when applied to my lips. After about an hour and a half, my lips did feel pretty dry. However I would like to mention that I have fairly dry skin in general so it is possibility that it could just be my skin affecting the ways in which this lipstick interacted with my lips. I will say that I suggest applying some moisturizing lip balm before applying this lip color though.
Pigmentation
The wine lip color is pretty pigmented on my skin. Even after I wiped off the lipstick once I was done wearing it, it did leave a bit of a lip stain which was also pretty as well. It does give a somewhat matte look when you do not apply a lip balm beforehand, but as I have said before.... it can feel drying on the lips after a while so it is good to have lip balm on your lips before applying it.
Would I buy the e.l.f. Matte Lip Color?
I most likely would check out the other colors available. I would love it if e.l.f. created this lipstick in a gold, black, or dark bronze color.
