As you all know the Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot will be coming to theaters in 2017. I've been waiting for a live action Wonder Woman movie to come out for the past couple of years and when I heard that the warrior princess of the Amazons was getting her own live-action movie, I became extremely excited.
To be completely honest, I haven't really seen too many movies featuring Gal Gadot in them (except The Fast and the Furious series) and even though she did a pretty good job in those movies, I think that there are actually a few other people that would have done well portraying Wonder Woman. Now I'm not exactly sure how casting goes... I'm not sure whether in order to get the roles people have to strictly audition or if the people in charge of who should be casted can reach out to actresses who they think would be perfect for these roles.
Here are my top 5 picks for who I think should have been casted as Wonder Woman.
(I would also like to say that these picks are in no particular order, aside from my number 1 pick of who should be Wonder Woman.)
I would also like to say that this is my own personal opinion based on my acute knowledge of people who were either in the running of being Wonder Woman or who I've actually seen in action.
Jessica Alba
When I was younger, I used to watch this show called Dark Angel which was the first live-action show I ever took the time to watch as a child. Jessica Alba played the main character whose name was Max. She was a genetically engineered human. After seeing how bad ass Alba was, I assumed she'd become a comic book superhero. She did a good job as Invisible Woman in the first Fantastic 4 Movie franchise, but I was hoping she'd be another comic book character like Wonder Woman.

After rewatching these scenes of Jessica Alba playing Max, I'm starting to think that maybe she could have played Rogue from the X-Men if they ever gave Rogue a movie.
Scarlett Johansson
This definitely won't be happening since she is Black Widow in the Marvel franchise for The Avengers, but a girl can dream. We can always hope for a possible Black Widow solo movie though.

Rachel Weisz
I remember watching The Mummy series and seeing Rachel for the first time. Since then, I've seen her in a lot of other movies but after seeing a few fight scenes from her in The Mummy series.. she could also execute the Amazon warrior princess successfully.

Alexandra Daddario
After seeing Daddario in Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief... I started contemplating if it were possible for DC Comics to create a series on Wonder Woman as a young Amazon princess... I doubt they'd go through with it, but I think it'd be pretty awesome.

Natalie Portman
Natalie can portray practically anyone. I'd like to see her in more action movies and Wonder Woman would be a great choice for her.

When I saw John Carter and saw Lynn fighting as Dejah Thoris... I instantly thought "SHE COULD BE WONDER WOMAN!!!" I couldn't find the fight scene I'm looking for on Youtube, but take my word for it that she would be awesome as Wonder Woman.
Also if you've never seen John Carter, you should watch it. It's a pretty good movie.
Gemma Arterton
Even though I have never seen her do too much in action movies, she's also one of my picks for WW. Gemma could definitely play her without a doubt, especially with her serious facial expressions.

Charlize Theron
If she wore a wig or dyed her hair black, she'd also be perfect for this role. Her acting skills are perfection. I want to say I've seen her act in practically every genre; sci-fi, action, drama, comedy...etc. She could definitely be WW.

Angelina Jolie
I believe a lot of people chose Angelina as the main contender for becoming this superhero. She's done a lot of action movies and has executed them all well.... from Wanted to Salt to Laura Croft in Tomb Raider. However, I highly doubt she'd want to be apart of the DC Comic fandom. It would take away a lot of time from her personal life.

Kate Beckinsale
I loved her in the Underworld series. She's also been in some other action movies like Van Helsing and Total Recall. If there were a lot of fight scenes in the WW movie, she'd fit perfectly for it.

Lucy Lawless
She played Xena Warrior Princess, so why not let her play another Amazon Warrior Princess? Her acting was perfection and so were the fight scenes. She could easily be Wonder Woman. Hands down!!
BTW I'm about to start binge watching Xena: Warrior Princess on Netflix.
