The suspense is killing me. It's exactly 10 more days until the season 5 premiere of Once Upon A Time. I am super excited to see Emma as the Dark One. We have already seen Emma in action as The Dark One for the first time in a clip that was released earlier this summer and it is hauntingly beautiful. So I've been really contemplating the possibilities of who will save Emma from being the Dark One and how they will be able to sseparate her from the darkness without killing her.
So let's hop into who will save Emma...
Her parents
I would like to think that Snow and Charming will be the ones to save Emma... but I doubt that will happen by a long stretch. It's possible that maybe the power of true love from her parents can save her. Of course, I feel like her entire perception of her parents, plus the good and evil perception may have changed for her though. There's also the fact that with Emma being the Dark One, she may only think negatively of her parents.
I started contemplating how Rumplestiltskin was when he was the Dark One too. He understood the balance of good and evil. He may have tricked people, but sometimes he did help people and he always did give them a warning beforehand. So I wonder if Emma will be the same or will she lash out at her parents and try to punish them or possibly even kill them for leaving her behind? Also what effect will this have on her little baby brother?
Regina
I know Regina will most likely do everything within her power to save Emma since she sacrificed herself for her. I'm not exactly sure how she'd be able to help her though, but I definitely feel like Regina and Emma will have it out a few times and I'm looking forward to that.
Henry
He is the truest believer, but the possibility of the writers incorporating that into this season won't happen or at least not to the extent it did previously. I also thought about the fact that if Henry is the Author to the book and chronicles what happens.... if he had just waited a little while before breaking the magic quill, he could have rewrote what happened to Emma. Of course, I'm not exactly sure if The Author would have been able to write out the Dark One as a whole. It maybe possible for Merlin and the Apprentice to create another quill for Henry, but I doubt it. I mean is he still even the author without the magical pen orrrr what?
I will say that I am looking forward to seeing what Henry and Emma's relationship will be like because of this extreme change.
Hook
Maybe Hook could use the dagger to ask Emma to remove the darkness itself... I feel like this is another big stretch, but I'm thinking about what happened with the Genie in Disney's Aladdin. Now hear me out for a second. In Aladdin, Genie explained that the master of the lamp could give the Genie a wish for freedom. I wonder if that could be possible for Emma to have freedom from the darkness of the dagger by command of someone who has the knife in their possession.
I also started thinking about how when Rumple was the Dark One, he did begin to love Belle and ultimately fell in love with her while he was the Dark One. Then there was also the factor that after Rumple became the Dark One, he still had love for his wife until he realized that she had left him to be with Hook... so it maybe possible for Emma to still love and care about Hook even as the Dark One or at least I'd think.
I personally always thought of Rumple as a trickster, like the Joker from the Batman series rather than a person who was considered to be completely evil.
Lily
Since Lily and Emma will always be connected for life because of what Snow and Charming did when they cast that spell on her when she was just a dragon egg, with Emma being the Dark One.... this maybe the game changer for Lily because of the whole "If Emma is good, Lily will be bad.." and vice versa curse. Maybe Lily will become the savior, but she will ultimately have to save Emma. It would be possible for her to bring Emma back to the light, but I feel as though if she did.... she would have to become the Dark One herself or something bad would happen to her. Or maybe Lily will join Emma as she is the Dark One and they both will be bad.
Merlin
I am really excited to see Merlin's role in this. Ever since I saw his hat I waited and waited and I'm still waiting to see what he has been doing all of this time. The Sorcerer's Apprentice said that Merlin once fought off the dark which is why the Dark One was created in the first place... to link it to a soul and maintain it's darkness within. I feel like we may find out who the original, the first Dark One was this season to realize how the Dark One and the sword was created. Maybe Merlin will be the one to remove it from Emma's body and he'll save her.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in 10 days when Season 5 of Once Upon A Time premieres on September 27th at 8/7c on ABC.
